A story with passion
Jose Benavidez, born in 1975, faced a challenging childhood, growing up on the streets and becoming a father at 15. Determined to provide his children with better opportunities, he began training his son, Jose Jr., in boxing at the age of six. Jose Jr. quickly excelled, becoming the youngest boxer to win the National Golden Gloves Championships at 16.
Jose Sr. sacrificed everything to train his sons, including Jose Jr. and David, moving to Hollywood in 2010 to work with renowned trainer Freddie Roach. Under Roach’s guidance, Jose Sr. trained notable fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Amir Khan, and others.
Returning to Arizona in 2011, Jose Sr. established Glory Boxing Gym and integrated into the state’s MMA community, training UFC stars like Aaron Simpson and Ryan Bader. His expertise significantly improved the fighters' boxing skills.

In 2014, Jose Jr. won a World Title against Mauricio Herrera, and in 2018, David captured the WBC Super Middleweight World Champion title. David reclaimed his title in 2019 with a knockout win over Andre Dirrell.
In 2019, Jose Sr. moved to Seattle, launching Benavidez Sports, a full-service boxing gym. He began training prospects and contenders, including Diego Pacheco, Daniel Blancas, and Cris Cyborg.
In January 2023, David's anticipated bout with Caleb Plant was announced. Jose Sr. now lives in Seattle with his wife Daisy and their daughter Princess, continuing to mentor and train the next generation of champions.
